Green River Fishing Float Trip

Famous throughout the West, the Green is one of the best brown and rainbow trout fisheries in the Jackson Hole area. Here you'll find a variety of water types, good hatches and some great streamer fishing that can produce some big rainbows and browns.

Because it flows mostly through private property, the Green is a perfect river for a float trip. With your guide at the oars, you'll be able to cast to the brush piles, log jams and other structures that couldn't be fished otherwise.

Many of our Green River floats begin about 55 miles south of Jackson near the area where the Warren Bridge crosses the river. There is public access just upstream from the bridge that allows your guide to begin his float just above the beginning of the private water area. We also start some floats in the private section by paying a trespass fee. This allows us to float through some of the best water of the Green.

Our trips generally start about the beginning of July when the river clears enough to fish. For the first week or so this is a great wet fly fishery and some really large trout can caught then. As the river drops and clears, the numerous hatches begin and there is some great dry fly fishing. Gray Drakes, Green Drakes and stonefly hatches can all be found on this river. All of our fishing trips include lunch, loan rods and waders if needed.

For all of our guided trips, we recommend bringing waders, rain gear and ample warm clothing. The weather in the Pinedale area can be quite variable and some of the best fishing can be found on overcast and cool days. Generally your guide will meet you in downtown Jackson, but other arrangements can be made. All our trips include lunch, transportation, beverages, and any loan rods. You’ll just need to get a few flies, leaders and a fishing license. Cameras are well worth bringing to capture your day.
