Gros Ventre Wade Fishing Trip

The Gros Ventre (pronounced 'grow vaunt') is one of the more scenic fly fishing wading trips we offer. This river has a stable population of 8 – 14 inch cutthroat which are generally eager to take a fly. The Gros Ventre is a perfect river to either learn to fly fish or to learn special fly fishing techniques.

Your guide will meet you at our store and take you up into the Gros Ventre backcountry. The exact location you go to and what type of water you fish will depend on your experience level and what you wish to learn. As always, lunch is included.

Most of the areas don’t require a long walk in, but you do need to be physically capable of wading and walking in the wilderness.

The fly fishing on the Gros Ventre varies according to the season. Generally, the best fishing doesn’t start until at least mid July and lasts through most of the season. This, of course, depends on the snow pack and whether it has been a dry or wet summer.

One of the nice things about the Gros Ventre is that there is just about any type of water you can want to fish. Throughout its length you’ll find everything including pools, riffles, runs and some classic pocket water.
